Define Success: Aerospace Exec to Explain at Modern-Day Woman’s Conference
Cheryle Jackson of AAR returns to hometown of Memphis to keynote empowerment breakfast
Memphis, Tennessee – How do modern-day women define success? Cheryle Jackson, Vice President of Government Affairs and Corporate Development for global aerospace leader AAR (NYSE: AIR), will lead the interactive session, “Defining Success for the Modern-Day Woman,” at the opening breakfast of the Modern-Day Woman’s Conference.
Saturday, February 9
From 9 to 9:45 a.m.
At Garrett Auditorium (on the campus of Baptist Memorial Hospital)
6027 Walnut Grove Rd.
Memphis, Tennessee
Participants of the daylong conference, hosted by the Women’s Foundation of Greater Memphis and its auxiliary group, the Young Women Philanthropists, will hear presentations and panels on issues ranging from health and wellness, to career development and leadership.
One of the highest ranking executives of color at the $2 billion aerospace leader and its highest ranking woman, Jackson built the government affairs function from the ground up and has been a major force behind AAR’s push to increase its sales domestically and internationally. In January, she became the first African American to serve on the Board of Governors of the Aerospace Industry Association (AIA) in its 93-year history. The AIA is regarded as the most authoritative and influential advocate for U.S. aerospace and defense manufacturers.
Civic-minded and culturally aware, Jackson, a Memphis native, has worked passionately for the advancement of women. Last fall, she chaired the annual luncheon of the Chicago Foundation for Women; AAR was a lead sponsor.
“Women are at the center of every problem but women also drive every potential solution and tipping point,” Jackson said. “Women want to lead and, in fact, our future economic growth and global influence is dependent upon women getting ahead and achieving parity with men. When women get ahead, families and communities get ahead.”
The Women’s Foundation for a Greater Memphis secures and grants funding for programs that help women and girls reach their full potential.
