AAR Partners with Feed6 on Veterans Day to Assemble and Donate Meals to Those in Need
Service honors the men and women who have sacrificed to serve and protect our country
WOOD DALE, Illinois – This Veterans Day, AAR employees will honor the men and women who defend our Country by packing meals for those in need. In partnership with Feed6, a nonprofit that organizes meal-packing events, employees will assemble meals at AAR’s global headquarters in Wood Dale. Veterans Day activities are planned in all of AAR’s facilities in North America to honor those who have served in our armed forces.
“More than 20 percent of AAR’s employees are veterans, including about 35 who work at the Company’s headquarters in Wood Dale,” said Tim Skelly, AAR Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer. “We remain committed to honoring these men and women and all veterans through events such as today’s, as well as job training and placement.”
The Wood Dale employees participating in the Feed6 project will work on inter-departmental teams in 90-minute shifts. These committed employees could yield up to 20,000 pasta and cheese meals.
Veterans comprise 15 percent of the homeless population in Illinois, according to the National Alliance to End Homelessness. As colder weather begins to settle in, shelters, transitional homes and soup kitchens that aid veterans – such as Catholic Charities’ Cooke’s Manor Veterans’ Residence, A Safe Haven, the Northern Illinois Food Bank, and Hesed House – will be especially in need of support and donations.
“At AAR, we are very cognizant of the sacrifices veterans have made for our country, and on this day especially, we want to show our appreciation and support,” said Skelly. “This year’s activity will not only assist local vets and others in need, but also provide an opportunity for employees to work together in service to our community.”
